Yesterday, when I showered, I thought that there was a “smell” to the water. This morning I confirmed it to myself even though Terecia can’t detect a smell. To me, it is something akin to the smell of stagnant swamp water with algae, not nearly as strong, but that is the image it conjures. Today we are going to the red sea. I may swim in it and I may not I’m not sure yet but we are taking our bathing suits anyway.

Well it is about 9:00PM and we are back from the Red Sea. This is going to be one to remember, I mean, you hear about vacations going sideways and you never think it will happen to you.

  1. We had a decent breakfast with a few strange offerings but nothing too crazy. We go to the lobby and wait for our guide who seemed to be running about 10 minutes late, but it wasn’t a big deal.
  2. We get loaded into the car and start our journey. This was a scary drive trying to get out of Cairo. We were honked at, yelled at, and nearly run off the road once or twice but our driver was professional and alert so we made it out.
  3. We got on the open road and it was just sand and desert on both sides for a long way. We started talking to our guide a little and soon realized that he may have been exaggerating his understanding of English when he hired on. He also wasn’t really pointing out anything as we drove. We weren’t going to let it detract from our enjoyment of the trip though so decided to just let it go.
  4. The drive to the hotel at Sokhna was fairly uneventful. We went through a couple of checkpoints and the drive through the desert was relaxing. When we got to the hotel “Dom Marina at Sokhna” as we were getting ready to walk in, Terecia didn’t notice a change in elevation of the walkway to a ramp and tripped twisting her right foot on the way down. Her phone went flying and she want down scraping her knee, scraping her right hand, and twisting her right foot inward.
  5. Hakeim and I tried to get her back up and she said that her knee wasn’t bad but her hand and foot hurt. Then the saga started to unfold. see Terecia’s Injury.
