Today was our trip to the tower. We had a nice morning walk to the meeting area for our tour. Breakfast was nothing notable, just a starbucks coffee and pastry you could get anywhere. We learned some interesting facts about the tower like it’s current color (brown) is the fourth color it has been painted. It has been red, green, yellow, and now brown. It is repainted every 7 years and takes 3 years to paint each time. It’s construction was started in 1887 and completed in 1889 for the world’s fair. It was not well received by the French public. It was considered to be a large, ugly, eyesore on the landscape. Today is has 20,000 (5,000 per side) lights that are lit every night. It has 3 floors and we were able to go to the top. It is completely held together with rivets with no structural welds in it’s construction.
Here are some pictures that Terecia took.
Some pictures of our dinner.
And that completes day 2.
